COURSE OBJECTIVES >

Holistic Documentation and Representation of Ahmedabad's Heritage: The journey is paved with diverse avenues – technical drawings, 3D models, photography, mapping, illustrations, interviews – all meticulously orchestrated to encapsulate the essence of Ahmedabad's heritage. This multi-faceted approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of the contemporary context. Each course's contribution weaves into the city's tapestry, filling the digital platform with invaluable documentation. This collective endeavor aligns with the rigorous requirements of UNESCO, ultimately offering a window into the city's legacy. Precision in editing and representation becomes paramount, adapting not only to the digital era but also ensuring accessibility for all.

Involvement and Sense of Belonging: This is more than a project; it's a sense of belonging. Students, while honing their skills, simultaneously invest in the very city that nurtures them. It's an opportunity to give back, to enrich the community they are an integral part of.

Bold and Visionary Proposals: Amidst the backdrop of a changing landscape, the proposals must be bold – addressing the growing entropy and multifaceted challenges. Recognizing the significance of traditional and vernacular living models as sustainability paradigms, this initiative calls for solutions that amalgamate the best of heritage and pioneering technology. It's a convergence that shapes the future, safeguarding the legacy for generations to come.

Academic-Practitioner Synergy: Collaboration breeds evolution. With the surge in practical courses, this model signifies the evolution of academia. It's a two-way street where research and data find real-world applications and practical insights from professionals feed back into academic explorations. A seamless transition between academic nurturing and practical implementation is fostered, where ideas are not confined to lecture halls but thrive in the reality of professional practice.

Knowledge Enrichment and Dissemination: The impact echoes on multiple levels. Students' horizons broaden as they engage with varied perspectives, connecting with peers, educators, and professionals across borders. The local populace's awareness is illuminated through the platform, nurturing a deeper understanding of their city. For the global audience, this initiative dismantles clichés, erases prejudices, and paints a vibrant, nuanced portrait of Ahmedabad. The ultimate aspiration is to merge local settlements into the fabric of a complex, integrated society, further enriching the course's contribution.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE COURSE

This initiative unfurls as an external elective course, woven seamlessly between theory and practice, immersing itself in the heritage of Ahmedabad while forging interconnections among the diverse faculties of the city. It's a chord that resonates within academia, harmonizing myriad agents to broaden horizons and nurture a panoramic perspective.

Luminaries of Architecture, Planning, Design, and Arts faculties across Gujarat's leading universities will join hands, steering this collective endeavor. Collaborative teams, helmed by 1-2 instructors/professors and comprised of 5-10 students (both bachelor and master levels), will embolden the program. The course envisions a dynamic semester-long journey, peppered with weekly discussions, campus instructions, and immersive site visits. Scheduled on evenings and weekends, it seamlessly integrates into the academic fabric.

This venture's pulse echoes within the very corridors of the IDEA Department. Serving as a pilot project, it refines methodologies and sets the stage for future universities. As a veteran of heritage revitalization, the IDEA Department assumes the mantle of host and pioneer, referencing past triumphs like AMBLI and JODHPUR.

The symphony is reciprocal. While the course empowers students to offer suggestions, their feedback enriches the program. Dialogue and debate nurture their maturity, fostering the blossoming of ideas and expression. Thus, the venture radiates as a two-way street of education and enlightenment, a beacon guiding academia's transformative journey.
